Mrs. Arlene J. Herbst's Obituary
Mrs. Arlene J. Herbst, 84, passed away Friday morning, January 16, 2015 in Muskegon. She was born November 26, 1930 to Charles A. and Thelma L (Ward) Brentana in Muskegon, and was a lifelong resident. Arlene worked as an Administrative Secretary for the Michigan Title Insurance Co. for several years, and later at Engine Rebuilders Service Company. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was actively involved with several church ministries. She enjoyed arts and crafts, sewing, canning, and decorating the church. On April 6, 1956 Arlene married Henry F. Herbst, Jr., and he preceded her in death on November 4, 2009. SURVIVORS include 3 children, Scot (Dawn) Herbst of Mt. Washington , KY, Lisa (Paul Wright) Bessinger of Muskegon, Julie (Randal) Grinwis of Muskegon; 4 grandchildren, Jeffrey (Kellie) Bessinger, Amy Bessinger, Kaelee (Cody Keown) Herbst, Nathan Grinwis; 3 great-grandchildren, Braeden, Colton and Eli; 2 brothers, James (Reho) Brentana of Muskegon, Ronald (Dorothy) Brentana of Grand Rapids; 1 sister-in-law, Charlene Brentana of Muskegon; several nieces and nephews. Arlene was also preceded in death by her parents; and 1 brother, Donald Brentana. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 23, at First Baptist Church, 1070 S. Quarterline, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Egelston Township Cemetery.
