Arlene Kay Johnston's Obituary
Arlene Kay (Allen) Johnston, age 79, passed away October 4, 2025, in Muskegon, MI. She was born November 9, 1945, to Howard and Jeanne (Ewing) Allen in Muskegon, MI. She spent 40 years with her longtime friend and significant other Malcom “Max” Garland, making many memories together.
Arlene enjoyed doing laundry for Shore Haven Nursing Home, where she spent 20 years before retiring in 2005. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed shopping or watching re-runs of Little House on the Prairie, Walker Texas Ranger or The Golden Girls. She also loved her soap operas and action movies.
Arlene cherished her friendships with Nancy, Deb, Linda and the late Shirley and Bertie, whom she met at Shore Haven Nursing Home. She also held a special place in her heart for her nurse, Stacey, who had been taking care of her recently.
Arlene will be remembered by her son, Mark (Carrie) Johnston; brother, Howard (Marie) Allen; sister, Arletta (Jeff) Dixon; special niece and nephew, Abbey and Jeffery Dixon; many other nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Linda Allen. She was preceded by her parents; 2 brothers, Gary Allen and Roye Allen; significant other, Malcom Garland; and her beloved dog, Sparkie.
