Arlene Esther Lawrence's Obituary
Arlene Esther Lawrence, age 89, of Grand Haven passed away Monday, March 1, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. She was born March 1, 1932, in Chicago, IL to Walter and LaVerne (Duda) Wayne. Arlene graduated from St. Francis De Sales High School in Illinois, then her family moved to Lansing, MI for a year, and then moved to Grand Haven in 1950 where she resided. Arlene married John Lewis in 1950, together they had seven children. John died in 1976 and Arlene remarried Don Lawrence in 1978, and he preceded her in death in 1985.
Arlene worked for Kent Products from 1960 to 1970, she then bartended for several years at the Grand Haven Elks and Eagles. Arlene then went to work for the Ottawa County Equalization Department for 14 years before retiring from that position. She was a life member of the Grand Haven Eagles Aerie # 925, former member of the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post # 28 auxiliary, member of St. Patrick - St. Anthony Catholic Church where she was an usher.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Ken (Bonnie) Lewis, Linda (Jon) Carlson, Kristin (Joseph) Harrison, Debbie Lewis, Jon Lewis; eight grandchildren: Tim, Katie, Gabe, Matthew, Angie, Jessica, Sarah and Bailey; sixteen great-grandchildren: Morgan, Ivy, Lizzie, Delaney, Jeremiah, Brayden, Landon, Gunnar, Kat, Elliana, Malcolm, Nicholas, Austin, Ella, Brooklyn and Atreus. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Casey LeMieux, two daughters, Karen Lewis and Joan Lewis, two brothers, Robert “Bob” Wayne and Jim “JW” Wayne.
