Arling H. Jensen's Obituary
Mr. Arling H. Jensen, age 90, died Sunday morning, August 20, 2006. He was born May 16, 1916 in Muskegon to Henry & Hannah (Ericksen) Jensen; and had been a life resident of the area. “Arley” served his country during WW II in England and France having been the number one draftee from Muskegon. He was retired in 1946 as a Major in the U.S. Air Force. He had worked at Sealed Power Corporation for 33 years. From 1968 – 1982 he was Vice-President of Sales for Muskegon Piston Ring. “Arley” then joined Dynagear Corporation, of Downers Grover, IL, as Manager of Acquisitions, retiring in 1998. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and of its Men’s Club. He was a life-member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), where he had served as its Chairman. He was also a member of the Retired Officer’s Association, the Muskegon Country Club; and in his leisure time enjoyed golf, boating and fishing. SURVIVORS include his wife of 64 years, the former Evelyn Franklin; 2 children Kay (Michael) Olthoff of Norton Shores and Scott (Sandra) Jensen of Delafield, WI; 6 grandchildren & 2 great-grandchildren, Jason (Jayme) Olthoff and their daughter Sydney, Chris Olthoff, Nancy Olthoff, Betsy (Nathan) Labatt and their daughter Ava, Emily Jensen and Andrew Jensen; and by 1 nephew, Wayne (Marita) Bailey. “Arley” was preceded in death by his sister, Ingebor Webb and nephew, Don Bailey. SERVICES will be 1PM Wednesday, August 23, 2006, at Trinity Lutheran Church (3235 Roosevelt Rd. at Woodside) with Pastor Dennis Lassanske officiating. Burial with Military Honors under the auspices of the Muskegon County Council of Veterans of Foreign Wars will follow in Lakeside Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be 6-9PM Tuesday at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc.
