Arnold G. Richmond's Obituary
Mr. Arnold G. Richmond, age 88, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2019. He was born on February 4, 1931 to William and Junella (Cole) Richmond in Hill City, MN. The family moved to Muskegon in the winter of 1943 where his parents worked at Continental Motors in the war industry. Arnie joined the United States Air Force when he was 17 and served his country for four years during the Korean War, eventually earning rank of Staff Sergeant. On December 5, 1953, he married the former Olga Westenfelder and she survives him. Arnold was a City of Muskegon Police Officer for 12 years. He spent the first two years patrolling on foot as a beat cop. He then spent the next 25 years as a Conservation Officer with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Arnie enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid gardener. He enjoyed sharing the many bounties of his garden with family and friends. Arnie was a devoted family man to his wife and children. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Olga; children, Suzanne Horn, Brian Richmond and Kathy (LeRoy) Hansen; grandchildren, Mindy (Duncan) Buchanan and Kathy Drew; sister, Beverly Allin; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Borreson, Carolyn (Chuck) Ness and Elsie Westenfelder; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Shirl Richmond; son-in-law, Bruce Horn; and brothers-in-law, Rev. Willard Allin, Don and Jerry Westenfelder and Gerald Borreson. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 13 at 12PM at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 49444, 231-798-1100. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, from 11AM-12PM.
