Olga and Family,
I had the pleasure of working with Arnie from 1969 until his retirement from the Michigan DNR. He was a tribute to the DNR and our natural resources are better today because of him.

Uncle Arnie,
A medical situation in Illinois will prevent me from attending your memorial service in Muskegon this Saturday. I wish I could be there to mourn with my Aunt, cousins and extended family. I have so many fond memories of our family picnics, numerous gatherings and holiday celebrations! We always had lots of food - but what I remember most is the laughter! You had a wonderful sense of humor and an adorable chuckle! You were steadfastly devoted to your family; Aunt Olga, Suzanne, Brian,Kathy and their spouses. You will be missed but your love and legacy shall endure! I also want to acknowledge your contribution to a noble profession- law enforcement. As a Muskegon policeman and Conservation Officer you DID SERVE AND PROTECT! You served your community and the State of Michigan - with distinction and dignity. And, I might add , you looked very handsome in your uniform! As a very young man you chose to defend democracy when you enlisted in the United States Air Force. As a citizen I am grateful for your service. As your niece I am very proud of you. You had to be strong, steady and tough in your line of work but your most enduring characteristics were always your sense of justice, your fairness, your patience and kindness. You were a blessing to our family, our community and our country. You gave love and you were loved! We will miss you, Uncle Arnie.
Rest In Peace.
Your niece,
Diane

Suzanne and family,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I look at this picture of your dad and I see my dad and Uncle Albert. May God grant you comfort and peace during this difficult time.
Suzanne,
My thoughts are with you. Knowing you ensures that your dad was a great guy! Remember the good times to assist you as you travel this leg of your life.
Arnie was one of the best neighbors, he always had a kind word and a genuine love of people. He was a " salt of the earth neighbor" who cared about others. He shared his amazing produce from his garden with his neighbors and helped everyone. In our household we called him our GREAT neighbor, he will be dearly missed by all! Our condolences to his entire family!

dear aunt olga, suzanne, kathy, and brian: i am so very sad for your loss.
i remember thinking uncle arnold had the perfect job because he got to enforce the law in protection of nature. as a know-it-all college student, i once got into a discussion with him about the necessity/danger of high-speed chases, and i remember he made me think about it differently - not an easy task at all.
family holiday time at grandma junella's was the best. while i did make it to the grown-up table eventually, the TRULY adult table was the one in the kitchen after dinner, where uncle arnold and aunt olga and my dad and our grandma had gin-and-squirt and played cards. i liked sitting next to uncle arnold because he was always the most welcoming to his nosy little niece.
again, dear cousins and aunt, i am so sorry for the pain you're feeling at this loss. you are in my thoughts always.
