Arnold E. Kolberg's Obituary
Arnold E. Kolberg, age 93, of Grand Haven passed away Monday, March 16, 2009, at Heartwood Lodge. He was born January 14, 1916, in Grand Haven to Henry and Augusta (Klempel) Kolberg, and he married the former Agnes Vander Ven on August 11, 1950, in Grand Haven. She preceded him in death on December 31, 2004.
Mr. Kolberg was a 1934 graduate of Grand Haven High School and had been employed as a manufacturing engineer for Sealed Power, retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where he served on several boards and was also a former Sunday School teacher. He was a past board member of Kandu Industries and was the 1950 Jaycee Man of the Year.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol (Luther) Showaker of Berlin, MD, and Lori Jo (Glenn) Schramm of Jackson, MI; a son, Douglas (Deborah) Kolberg of Grand Haven; a daughter-in-law, Karen Kolberg of Athens, TX; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Hamm of Grand Haven; a sister-in-law, Cora Kolberg of Spring Lake; and a brother, Kenneth (Clara) Kolberg of Muskegon. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline, in 1949, and by a son, Kurt Kolberg.
The service for Arnold will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2009, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Grand Haven with Rev. Dieter Haupt presiding. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery.
