Arthur L. "Dick" Benedict's Obituary
Arthur L. “Dick” Benedict III, age 81, passed away early Sunday, October 30, 2022. He was born on February 26, 1941, to Dr. Arthur and Margaret (Dwyer) Benedict, Jr. in Muskegon, MI. He graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central High School. After graduation, he attended St. Ambrose University where he earned his bachelor’s degree and then continued his education at Eastern Michigan University. There he earned a Master of Business Administration degree. Dick dedicated many years working as a self-employed accountant before retiring in 2020. On August 27, 1966, he married the love of his life, Sherry Robbins. Together they cherished 56 years full of love and laughter. He was a faithful man and a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Dick will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Benedict; 4 sons, Arthur Benedict IV, Todd (Julie) Benedict, Matthew Benedict and Christopher (Sarah Seastrom) Benedict; 9 grandchildren, Arthur (Danielle) V, Kathryn, Alexander, Addison, Gabrielle, Hadyn, Easton, Kat Grevel and Jude Grevel; great-granddaughter, Delaney; brother, James (Marylou) Benedict; and sister, Peggy McCarthy. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, Dr. Bruce McCarthy. A Memorial Mass will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 4, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 239 W. Clay Ave., Muskegon, MI 49440. A visitation with the family will be held one-hour prior at the church. Memorial contributions in Dick’s honor can be directed to the Leukemia Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
