Arthur J. "Art" Casadonte's Obituary
Arthur J. “Art” Casadonte, age 88, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Trinity Health – Muskegon Hospital. He was born on January 31, 1937 in Flint, MI to Anthony and Theresa (Belmonte) Casadonte and lived in the Muskegon area most of his life. Art was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marines Corps. and had served for many years giving honors to fallen veterans at military services with Marine Corps League Detachment #703 in Muskegon. He had also served as a Past Commandant of the League. On October 7, 1967, he married Janice J. Jay in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on February 22, 2019. Art worked at Michigan Consolidated Gaes Company for 38 years, was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and had been a longtime supporter of Muskegon Catholic Schools. He was an avid University of Michigan Fan, passionate golfer, enjoyed photography, and was a longtime supporter and season ticket holder for the Muskegon Catholic Central Football Program. Survivors include his son, Brett (Gilda Collins) Casadonte; 3 grandchildren, Dominic, Maximilian, and Alexandra Casadonte; 1 sister, Rose Sample; 4 sisters-in-law, Sherri Casadonte, Hazel (Craig) Johnson, Mary Jo Miller, Grace White; nieces and nephews, Bobby Pavlic, Vicky Pavlic, Brenda (Todd) Kempf, Jill (Chris) Lynn, Linda (Don) Diffendal, Jim (Jane) Sample; great-nieces and nephews, Abigail (Abi Gushen-Lynn) Lynn, Emma Lynn, Theresa Diffendal, Eric Diffendal, Melissa Sample, Bill Sample, Jessicca Richard. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Janice Casadonte; his parents, Anthony and Theresa Casadonte; 1 brother, Anthony Casadonte, 3 brothers-in law David Sample, Bob Pavlic, and Bobby Miller, and 1 nephew Bill Sample. Visitation will be held 10:00AM-11:00AM Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 2929 McCracken Street, Norton Shores, MI 49441 followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM in the Marian Chapel. Military Honors will be offered by the United States Marine Corps Funeral Detail and the veterans from Marine Corps League Detachment #703. Memorial Contributions may be directed to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church Memorial Fund. No flowers please.
