Arthur M. "Art" Cisler Jr.'s Obituary
Arthur M. “Art” Cisler Jr., age 83, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023. He was born on August 7, 1940, to Arthur and Basteanna (Vanderstelt) Cisler, Sr. in Muskegon, MI. He graduated from Muskegon High School class of 1958 and continued his education at Ferris State University. There he completed 2.5 years of school focusing on pharmaceuticals. He was a proud veteran serving in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was there for two weeks serving as a medic before his platoon was attacked. Art was a dedicated employee of BC Cobb Steam Plant where he dedicated 38 years working as a trainer. On March 18, 1993, he married the love of his life, Sylvia White. Together they cherished 30 years full of love and laughter. Art enjoyed participating in various clubs and organizations within the community such as Jaycee’s, freemasons, and the White Lake Eagles. He was an avid fan of the MSU Spartans and loved cheering them on and sporting a hat or two over the years. Art had a passion for playing the clarinet which started in fifth grade. He was a gifted musician and played in the West Michigan Concert Winds. Art was the president of the Winds, traveling with hundreds of musicians to Europe and also created the endowment fund creating future scholarship and performance possibilities. His tender-loving and adventurous spirit will be missed by many. He is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia Cisler; three children, Mark Cisler, Todd (Lisa) Cisler and Lisa (James) Busch; three stepchildren, Jason Hylland, Kathryn Wisser and Kristina (Adam) Reesman; eight grandchildren; and two sisters, Jean Cisler and Cheryl Cisler. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Carolyn Sidock. A Visitation with the family will be held from 3-5:00PM on Friday, October 6, 2023, at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442. Art will be laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery in Middleville, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his honor can be directed to West Michigan Concert Winds.
