Mr. Arthur "Jack" Mahn's Obituary
Mr. Arthur “Jack” Mahn, age 85, passed away Monday, July 9, 2012 at Robbinswood Assisted Living Center. He was born May 11, 1927 in Muskegon to William and Grace (LaFayette) Mahn and lived in the area his entire life. Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during WWII. On June 14, 1947, he married the former Noella L. D’Hondt in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on November 16, 2007. Jack worked as a machinist for 46 ½ years at Teledyne Continental Motors Corp and retired in 1990. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church where he served on the finance council and volunteered as an usher and Eucharistic distributor. Jack was also a member of the VFW Don Rea Post 8846, the Catholic War Veterans Council 843 and the Knights of Columbus. Jack was active with the Pee Wee Football and Youth Baseball Little Leagues and was an avid golfer. SURVIVORS include his 3 sons, Douglas Arthur (Julia) Mahn of Holland, Mark Anthony (Patricia) Mahn of North Muskegon, Bruce Allen (Charlotte) Mahn of Muskegon; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Philip Mahn and Lewis Mahn, and 2 step-brothers, Allen and Wesley Bayne. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Anthony M. Pelak as celebrant. INTERMENT will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery with military honors offered by VFW Post 8846. VISITATION will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
