Arthur V. Scott Sr.'s Obituary
Arthur passed away peacefully with his family on July 8, 2021.
He was committed to providing leadership for the betterment of all people, focusing on maintaining economic, professional parity and continually striving to find ways to give back to the community. Arthur leaves us with an incredible legacy. A proud family man, Mr. Arthur Scott and Jannie Scott (wife) were married 55 years and have four children, 13 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. He was born in Woodville, MS in 1947. Mr. Scott was a spiritual man that believed in Jehovah God as his creator, creator of all things. He dedicated his life to Jehovah on June 26, 1993. Following his commandments enabled Mr. Scott continued to love his neighbors and understood there is more in giving than receiving.
Prior to becoming an Owner/Operator, Arthur held a variety of positions in McDonald’s, starting his career in the restaurants as a crew person in 1981. Over time he held several positions within the McDonald’s Corporation, including Home Office Director for 1,600 company owned restaurants across the U.S., Operations Manager, Field Service Manager, and Director of Operations. Arthur truly loved the Brand and the people he met along the way. His #1 passion was his ability to train, teach, coach and develop anyone who shared his passion.
During Arthur’s tenure as Owner/Operator, his organization received numerous awards, including the prestigious Ronald Award in 2002. If you ask Arthur, his favorite awards were those given to his people. His General Managers earned over 25 Outstanding General Manager Awards, over 30 Outstanding Restaurant Awards and two General Managers received the Ray Kroc Award as some of his proudest people accomplishments. Outside the four walls of his organization, Arthur’s passion was serving his peers. His proudest work was while serving as BMOA Central Division President.
As a business leader, Mr. Scott served on the Board of Trustees for the Muskegon Community Foundation; The Board of Directors for the Ronald McDonald House of Grand Rapids; the Ronald McDonald House Charities; Grand Valley State University Foundation for Muskegon County; the Muskegon Community College President’s Advisory for Capital Operations; Board President of the Muskegon Heights Public School System; and was a founding member of Muskegon Summer Celebration, Inc. His community contributions, business acumen, and leadership had garnered him number awards, including the Outstanding Leadership Contribution of the Cause of Racial Harmony and Social Justice Award; State of Michigan Humanitarian Award; the Urban League Economic Development Service Award; the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Award for the Citizen of the Year; the Prestigious President Award; and the Ronald Award, one of the most prestigious awards given to McDonald’s Owner/Operators.
