Arthur R. Sibley Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Arthur R. Sibley Sr, age 80, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2026. He was born in Muskegon on November 8, 1945, to Everett and Helena (Westerhouse) Sibley, and he lived his whole life in the Muskegon area. He owned his own business and worked as a builder for many years and eventually retired from the maintenance department at Sara Lee in 2014. In his younger years he enjoyed salmon fishing with his brother Rich, camping with his family, and deer hunting with family and friends. He played softball for Vic’s Tavern and was a lifelong member of the Fruitport Eagles. In more recent years he loved watching the Detroit Red Wings, NASCAR, and University of Michigan Football.
Arthur will be lovingly remembered by his children, Arthur (Denise) Sibley Jr. and Sherie Thompson; two grandchildren, Desiree (Dave) Elliot and Nicole (Greg) Heighton; seven great-grandchildren: Thomas Elliot, Gabrielle Elliot, Francesca Elliot, Lillian Elliot, Isaac Elliot, Kolbe Elliot, and Annabelle Heighton; three sisters: Barb Bowditch, Helena (Larry) Ohlendorf, and Patricia (Bill) Terry; brother, John Paul Sibley; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Richard Sibley, Alan Sibley, and Joe Sibley. A Celebration of Life will be held for Arthur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Health at Home.
