Mr. Arthur Sikkenga's Obituary
Mr. Arthur “Art” Sikkenga passed away on August 31, 2013. He was 79 years old. Art was born on April 24, 1934 to Arthur and Katherine Sikkenga. He attended Muskegon High School, and in 1953, he married the former Margaret Deitz. He and Margaret were blessed with four children and more than 50 years of marriage before she passed away in 2005. Arthur worked at Bennett Pump, and then at the former Sherman Oaks Care Center, now known as Sanctuary at McAuley. He retired in the early 1980s. Art loved to golf, watch sports, play euchre, and was a faithful Big Red, Tigers and Michigan fan. He was a simple man who was devoted to his family. He enjoyed family dinners on Sundays and holidays. Spending time with his family was his favorite thing to do. Art will be deeply missed. SURVIVORS include his 4 children: Jerry (Virginia) Sikkenga, Patricia (Robert) Temple, Deb Coy, and James Sikkenga; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, John (Jenna) Deitz; and sister-in-law, Joann Deitz. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; daughter, Cynthia Sikkenga; brothers, Nicholas and Robert; and sister, Jeanne Kenney. A TIME OF REMEMBRANCE will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Whitlows Banquet Hall located at 4610 Airline Rd., Muskegon, MI.
