Mr. Arthur Sparks' Obituary
Mr. Arthur Sparks, age 74, of Spring Lake, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Heartwood Hospice House. He was born June 3, 1938 in Ravenna, to Rodney and Nina (Thompson) Sparks.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was an avid reader, bowler and enjoyed being outside hunting, fishing or spending time in his garden, but most of all he enjoyed being with his grandsons.
On October 27, 1962, he married the former Frances Hippler in Spring Lake and she survives him along with 5 children: Darlene Caldwell of Spring Hill, FL, Tom (Joan) Gardner of Jewett City, Conn, Sally (Kevin) Walsh of Mesa, AZ, Garry (Kim) Sparks of Nunica, and Shari (Todd) Fredrickson of Maple Grove Minn; 5 grandsons: Thomas and Scott Gardner, Ricky (Andrea) Caldwell, Tyler and Colin Sparks; 1 great-grandson, Ricky Caldwell. He is also survived by 1 sister, Ina May (Larry) Clute; 2 brothers: Clyde (Minnie) Sparks, Dale (Debbie) Hippler; 1 sister-in-law, Jean Hippler. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rodney and Nina; brother, Fred Hippler; and step-father, Raymond Hippler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Monday, August 6, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Daniel DePew officiating. Visitation will be held 2-5 PM Sunday at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake. Interment will take place in Lakeshore Cemetery.
