August Havermans' Obituary
Mr. August H. Havermans, age 79, passed away Saturday morning, May 15, 2004 in Muskegon. August was born on July 29, 1924 to August and Lila (Reckley) Havermans. He was a life long resident of Muskegon. He married the former Betty Rop on November 29, 1971. He was the retired owner of Havermans Construction Company. Gus enjoyed woodworking during his retirement. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church where he served as a Trustee for many years. He was also a life member of the Mona Lake Boating Club. Gus served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. SURVIVORS include his wife Betty; children, Theodore (Lois) Havermans, James (Ronda McDiarmid) Havermans, Douglas (Becki) Havermans, Sandra (Ronald) Werner, Linda (Kenneth) Sokolowski, all of Muskegon; 10 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 children, son Terry and daughter Nancy; 2 brothers, Carling and Robert; and 1 sister, Marjorie Zahrt. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 4475 Henry St., Muskegon, with Reverend Mark Zimmerman officiating. Burial will take place at Mona View Cemetery. VISITATION at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. (231) 759-8565 will be from 5-8 PM Monday evening. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Mark Lutheran Church Building Fund, or Hospice of Muskegon/Oceana would be appreciated.
