Augustine Serritos' Obituary
Augustine Serritos Jr. “Augie,” passed away April 11, 2025, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. He was born in Bryan, Texas on February 20, 1938, to Augustine and Otila Serritos. Augie graduated from Orchard View and served in the United States Marine Corps. After his time in the military, he went on to be a machinist for Bennett Pump and later Pacific Steamex, where he retired in 1984. On July 25, 1960, he married the love of his life Doris M (Caro) Serritos and they share 7 children together. Augustine had a love for thrifting and couldn’t wait to find his next treasure. He also had a love for golfing, fishing and bowling and enjoyed being on a bowling league at the Sherman Bowling Alley. He would spend many afternoons golfing at University Park and Old Channel Trail. When his children were growing up, he would take them fishing using cane poles, which will be a memory forever cherished. If you ever had a chance to know him, you would have loved him. He was known for being softspoken and being the type of person that would literally give you the shirt off his back, as he had done for a complete stranger. Augustine will be dearly missed and forever cherished. Augie is survived by his 7 children, Theodore (Kendra) Giudici Jr., Steven (Claire) Giudici, Sandra Stewart, Cynthia (Matthew) Caputo, Robert (Roxanne) Serritos, Richard (Michelle) Serritos, and Ronald (Rana) Serritos; 4 sisters, Virginia Serritos, Elizabeth (Juan) Valez, Jovita Roy, and Mary Serritos; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and close friends. Augie was preceded in death by his parents; wife Doris Serritos; 7 brothers and 1 sister. A memorial will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider dedicating more time to your loved ones. Tomorrow is not promised. Arrangements entrusted to The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442. Please sign the family’s online guestbook at www.sytsemafh.com.
