Barbara J. "Barb" Barrett's Obituary
Barbara J. “Barb” Barrett, age 71, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. She was born on January 13, 1950 to Harold R. “Dick” and Flora (Kline) Dykstra in Muskegon, MI. She received her nursing degree from Muskegon Community College and graduated class of 1981. Barb dedicated 35 years working at Mercy Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) before retiring in 2016. On February 18, 1989 she married the love of her life, Gorden Barrett Jr. in Muskegon, MI. Together they cherished 32 years full of love and laughter. Barb was a gifted woman in both cross stitching and painting. Above all things, she truly loved spending time with her friends and family. Her fun-loving and kind spirit will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Gorden Barrett Jr.; 4 children, Loren Ulrey, Stephanie Barrett, Dennis (Danielle) Gerling Jr. and Bradley (Michelle) Barrett; 7 grandchildren, Brett, Andrew, Derek, Devin and family, Jared, Brooke and Nathan; 2 brothers, Ron (Sherry) Wilcoxsen and Daniel Dykstra; 2 sisters, Mary Galy and Debbie Dykstra; numerous nieces and nephews; many dear friends and extended family; and favorite pup, Frankie. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Linda Hinton and Sandra Sheneman; brother, Robert Dykstra; and Brent Barrett.
