Barbara Helen Eskew's Obituary
Barbara Helen Eskew, age 84, of Nunica passed away Friday, June 14, 2024, at home. She was born April 25, 1940, in Grand Haven to William and Helen (Garvon) Mihalek. She married Robert William “Bill” Eskew on August 23, 1958, in Spring Lake, MI. Bill preceded her in death on July 1, 2022.
Barb was a long-time, active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, serving as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and as a lector. The Catholic Charismatic Renewal was important to her spiritual growth. Barb was a member of The Sunset Coast Cruiser Car Club. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, theater, opera, and was a talented seamstress. Her greatest joy was spending time with her three daughters.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters: Mary (Douglas) Chittenden, Jeanne Eskew and Laura Alexandria; two grandchildren, Joshua (Tanisha) Chittenden and Michelle Chittenden; her sister, Betty Sweet; and her brother-in-law, Daniel King. She was preceded in death by her sister, Catherine King; nephew, Bill King; brother-in-law, Versil Sweet; and special friend, James Lupone.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. William Vander Werff as celebrant. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the Mass at church. Interment will be in Nunica Cemetery.
