Barbara Fletcher's Obituary
Barbara Fletcher, age 93, of Spring Lake passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2022. She was born July 17, 1929, in Grand Rapids to Ray and Catherine (Gilbert) Montague. On July 24, 1948, she married Porter Fletcher, and he preceded her in death on January 10, 2010.
Barbara was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a life member of the VFW Post 2326 in Grand Haven. She was a servant at heart in everything she did and will be greatly missed. For many years Barbara and Porter volunteered their time for many activities at Spring Lake Public School and for Meals on Wheels. Before her retirement she worked for Spring Lake Public Schools for many years. Barbara was a daughter, sister, mother, and friend who will be greatly missed.
Barbara is survived by four children: Denise (Ted) Kramer of Spring Lake, Lori (Kurt) Slaughter of Fenton, Lisa Ashcraft of Spring Lake, and Charles (Mindy) Fletcher of Spring Lake; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; sister, Sharon (Earl) Wills. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Julie Dykstra, and brother, Charles Montague.
In keeping with her wishes there will be a private family burial at Spring Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Barbara may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or VFW Post 2326. Please sign the family’s online guestbook at http://www.sytsemafh.com.
