Barbara Jean Gilbert's Obituary
Barbara Jean Gilbert age 92, of Ravenna, MI died Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Mercy Health Partners-Mercy Campus.
Barbara was born on March 3, 1926 in Muskegon, MI to the late Peter H. and Mryth (Briggs) Zuidema. She married Richard Gilbert on January 12, 1946 in Ravenna, MI. He preceded her in death on September 17, 2001. She served in the Civil Air Patrol she received the Congressional Gold Medal for her service as a pilot during WWII. Lifelong member of Ravenna, very active in several causes in and around Ravenna. Active in the church, loved gardening, dancing, golf, TOPS, Enjoyed winters in Florida and loved her family. An inspiration to all.
Barb is survived by: 3 Sons: Richard “Dick†(Sharon) Gilbert of Arizona, David (Nancy) Gilbert of California and Bruce (Denise) Gilbert of Ravenna. 2 Daughters: Diana Schmidt of Grand Haven and Pamela (Bill) Montambo of Shelby. 12 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren. 2 Sisters: Doris (Clarence) Borgman and Della (Harry) Karel of Muskegon 1 Brother: Herbert (Norma) Zuidema of California. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Also Toby the Dog.

Funeral Services for Barbara J. Gilbert will be conducted on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 11:00am at the First Reformed Church in Ravenna with Pastor Steve VanderWoude officiating. Burial will be in Ravenna Township Cemetery.
The family will be at the First Reformed Church on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 6:00 to 8:00pm to receive friends.
