Barbara J. Lindland's Obituary
Barbara Jean Lindland, age 89, passed away in Spring Lake, MI, on Saturday, November 2, 2024. Barb was born in Muskegon, MI, on January 20, 1935, to Frederick and Edna (Aley) Lange, and she graduated from Muskegon High School. On September 5, 1953, she married Robert Riegler, and the two of them spent 20 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death in 1974. Barbara moved and spent much of her life in the areas of Big Rapids, MI and Stanwood, MI, where she was active in the Fraternal Order of Eagles and American Legion, before moving back to West Michigan in her later years. Barb loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing, deer hunting, and working in her garden. She was an excellent cook and baker, as well as an avid reader and bowler. She had a great sense of humor and loved making people laugh. She was a nice, kind, and social person that people were drawn towards, and she was always the life of the party. More than anything she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.
Barb will be lovingly remembered by her four children: Randy (Beth) Riegler, Sherri (Greg) Moore, Rob Riegler, and Brad (Paula) Riegler; two stepdaughters: Yvonne (Dave) Jacot and Jody (Jeff) Kamptner; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild with one more on the way; brother, Frederick (Marge) Lange; and lifelong best friend, Liz Herscher. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and stepmother, Viola Lange.
A private graveside service is being held, but details regarding a celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association’s Clean Air Challenge. Arrangements by The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI, 49444.
