Barbara L. MacMeekin's Obituary
Barbara L. (Potter) MacMeekin, age 95, passed away in Spring Lake, MI on May 12, 2025. Born June 2, 1929, in Muskegon, to Coach Harry E. Potter and Carol L. Potter. Barbara was a graduate of Muskegon High School, class of ’47 and attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
On October 18, 1952, she married John C. MacMeekin and they settled in Grand Rapids where they lived for 38 years. She was active in Shawnee Park School PTA and East Congregational church when their daughters were young. Barb was an expert seamstress who was co-owner of Stitch-In-Time Alteration Shop. She was also an amazing baker making delicious pies, pastries and cookies enjoyed by all.
When John retired from Old Kent Bank in 1989, they moved to Spring Lake, a perfect spot for their love of the lake and outdoor activities.
Barb is survived by 3 daughters - Janet Neal of Clifton, NJ, Jean MacMeekin of Harper Woods, MI and Joan MacMeekin of Spring Lake, MI, 3 Grandchildren Timothy Neal, Christopher Neal and Emily Neal Kasakove, niece, Lynn Moore Waldo, her daughter, Dana Judd and Dana’s son, Corey Judd, and nephew, David Moore.
