Barbara Jane Najar's Obituary
Barbara Jane Najar, age 78, passed away Monday, November 17, 2025 at Trinity Health – Muskegon Hospital. She was born March 28, 1947 in Muskegon to Felix and Gladys (Lambert) Ebare and was a lifelong resident of the area. Barbara worked as a payroll clerk for Muskegon Community Mental Health and retired in 2012 after 20+ years of service. Barbara was a member of Central Assembly of God. In her later years, she enjoyed reading and reconnecting with old friends at her new apartment at Pine Grove Manor. Survivors include 2 sons, Charles (Claudia) Kortman, Jerry (Kristine) Kortman; 6 grandchildren, Charles Fredrick Kortman, Catherine Marie (Salim) Miller, David (Shelby) Kortman, Claudia Jean Kortman, Nicholas (Archita Birla) Kortman, Sara (Matthew Johns) Kortman; 6 great-grandchildren, Genevieve, Henry, Hazel, Mariah, Salina, Aaliyah; and 1 brother, Norman (Mary Jo) Ebare. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Fredrick Kortman; her second husband, David Najar; her parents; 1 sister, Lois Jones; and long-time companion, Harry Kerbuski. A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, November 21, 2025 at Central Assembly of God, 896 Home Street, Muskegon, MI 49442, with Pastor Alex Kirksey officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place at Egelston Township Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be directed to Central Assembly of God.
