Barbara Jean Schaefer's Obituary
Mrs. Barbara Jean Schaefer, age 85, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021 in Muskegon. She was born in Muskegon on August 31, 1935 to William and Alta (Ellison) Miles. Barbara, along with her husband Peter, owned and operated a dairy farm. She also worked for over 20 years as a subcontractor for the Muskegon Chronicle prior to her retirement. She enjoyed family gathering, feeding her friends, and gathering around her kitchen table with friends and family over a cup of coffee or a meal. Barbara is survived by four children, Peggy (Gary) Foster, Pamela Phillips, Paula (Dan) Agar, and Perry (Cindi) Schaefer; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill (Marilyn) Miles and Clayton (Barb) Miles; and her dogs, whom she treated like children, Lily and Milo. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Peter Schaefer Sr.; two sons, Peter Schaefer Jr. and Paul Schaefer; and five siblings. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held in the spring. MEMORIALS in memory of Barbara may be directed to one of her favorite charities, St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
