Barbara "Boo" Schlett's Obituary
Mrs. Barbara “Boo” Schlett, age 72, of Spring Lake passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021, at home. She was born April 19, 1949, in Cincinnati, OH to Remster, Jr. and Barbara (Mulberry) Bingham. On October 5, 1985, she married Robert Schlett at their home.
After starting as a paraprofessional/cig pig at Grand Haven High School, Boo went back to college to get her master’s in education administration from Grand Valley State University. In 1999 she became assistant principal at Western High School in Parma, MI. She was an assistant principal for 5 years and then was promoted to principal for 2 years. She retired in 2007 and lived in Muskegon for 7 years, then Fort Pierce, FL for another 7 years before returning to Spring Lake in 2017. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed the beach and spending time on the water. Most of all she loved her family and friends and enjoyed time with all of them. Fourth of July in Onekama will not be the same without her. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; their children: Andy (Anne) Baker of Asheville, NC, Jennifer “Jiffy” Baker of Spring Lake, Kevin (Wendy) Schlett of Caledonia, and Kristen (Jody) Addicott of Greenville, SC; eleven grandchildren: Nathan Luben, Charley and Flora Baker, Maggie, Grace, Hannah, and Evie Schlett, Branden (Brit), Haley, Ryan (fiancée Ally), and Lily Addicott; brother, Brad (Lisa) Bingham, and sister-in-law, Cathy Bingham; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Remster and Barbara; brother, Remster Bingham III.
A celebration of life will take place at 5-7 PM Friday, August 20, 2021, at 707 (707 Washington Ave, Grand Haven). Boo would want this to be casual, a jacket and tie are not necessary. Memorial contributions in memory of Boo may be given to The JED Foundation to help and protect emotional health and prevent suicide for our nation's teens and young adults.
