Barbara Linda Selleck's Obituary
Barbara Linda (Tinham) Selleck, age 80, of Muskegon, MI passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. She was born December 4, 1944, to Robert and Lydia (Hinner) Tinham in Detroit, Michigan. She was a 1963 graduate of Henry Ford High School in Detroit and completed a practical nursing program in 1965 from Port Huron Junior College, earning her LPN license. It was in Port Huron that she met and married Harry Selleck. They married on February 3, 1973, and moved to Muskegon, MI the following year. Together they shared 49 years of marriage. Harry preceded her in death in 2022. Barbara worked as an LPN for many years in both hospital and home health settings. Caring for others was truly her vocation and gave her a great sense of purpose. Growing up in Detroit, she had many fond memories, especially times spent at the family cottage in Belle River, Ontario. She enjoyed traveling earlier in life, with favorite memories from a trip to Glacier National Park.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed gardening, shopping and reading. She was a big believer in the invaluable skill of reading, leading her to volunteer for many years with the Adopt-A-Reader program at Reeths-Puffer Schools. Animals certainly held a special place in her heart, and she adored the companionship of her dogs throughout her life. She dearly loved her four grandchildren, followed and supported all their endeavors. Spending time with family and friends is what she cherished most of all.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Jason) Ostoin; grandchildren, Andrew (Emily Francis) Ostoin, Matthew Ostoin, Zachary Ostoin, and Katherine Ostoin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Selleck; parents; brother, Robert; and sister, Patricia.
A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, April 4, 2025, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey Street, Norton Shores, Ml 49444.
