Barbara Lou Thompson's Obituary
Barbara Lou Thompson, age 88, surrounded by her loving family, went to her heavenly Father on July 5, 2016 at Sanctuary at McAuley, where she had resided for the last 4 years. Barbara was born on December 24, 1927 in Ludington, MI to William and Margaret (Budreau) Taibl, the third of five children. She married Edward Thompson, the love of her life, on May 10, 1947. For 30 years, Barb and Ed, owned and operated Thompson Plumbing and Heating. Barb was happiest when she was in the kitchen, out in her garden, or with her family. Mom made the best apple pie known to man. She was a dedicated and loyal member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for 63 years. Besides being the loving spouse of Edward, who preceded her in death in 2000, she will be greatly missed by her daughters Linda (George) Piskorz of Texas and Sandy (Mike) Bradshaw of Muskegon, son Ed (Terri) Thompson of Lake, MI; six grandchildren, Barbie (John) Duffy, Matthew (Kristi) Piskorz, Sarah Green, Jon Portincasa, Tanner Thompson, and Bailey (fiancé, Ty Schwandt) Thompson and 4 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Joyce Roberts of Idaho; sisters-in-law, Margaret Walunas and Stella Storr of Michigan, many nieces and nephews, and special friends, Myrna and Kimberly Bradshaw. She was preceded in death by her brother William Taibl, and sisters Darlene Romanosky and Lois Saya. A special thanks to Annie Ewing and the staff on the 600 hall at the Sanctuary at McAuley who treated Barbara with loving care and respect. The kindness you have shown our mother is deeply appreciated. SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Thursday, July 7, 2016 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with Rev. Fr. Norman Droski presiding. VISITATION will be one hour prior to her service. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. MEMORIALS to Pound Buddies would be appreciated.
