Barbara Jo (Mudget) Liefer's Obituary
Mrs. Barbara Jo (Mudget) Liefer, age 58, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2008 in the company of her loving family. A strong, happy and healthy woman, the end of Barbara’s time on this earth came suddenly and unexpectedly. She was born on November 17, 1949 to Robert and Beryl (Wachter) Mudget in Muskegon, where she lived her entire life and raised her family. Barb graduated from Reeths-Puffer High School in 1967 and married David Lee Liefer in 1970. Though too humble to acknowledge it in life, Barbara made a great contribution to the world around her through charitable works. Whether family member or acquaintance, Barb was tireless in her care and service to those in need. Her compassion and selflessness set the example for all of us. During the rare occasions she allowed herself recreation, Barb enjoyed baking, going to the casino, and tending to her garden. Some of her best times were spent traveling, kayaking, and cycling with her best friend and husband, Dave. One of her greatest joys for the past decade has been the three grandchildren that her daughter, Nicole gave her: Jordan, Brady and Kaylee Mae. She is survived by her loving husband, David; her children, Jason and his wife, Shawn, Nicole and her husband, Brent, and Justin and his girlfriend, Claire. She is also survived by her parents; seven siblings, Rhonda (Tony) Ferraro, Beth (Michael) Lewandowski, Laurie (Michael) Hamilton, Jan (Dale) Deverman, Carol (Bruce) Noreen, Margaret (Chad) Johnson, and Robert Mudget; her brother-in-law, Bruce (Deb) Liefer; and many nieces and nephews. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 10:00 AM Friday, October 10, 2008 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Philip A. Sliwinski as celebrant. INTERMENT will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION with Barb’s family will be 7-9 PM Wednesday and 7-9 PM Thursday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Thursday evening. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the American Red Cross or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
