Barbara M. Homan's Obituary
Mrs. Barbara Mae Homan, age 57, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2005. She was born August 4, 1947 in Muskegon to Raymond and Eileen (Clark) Nelson and lived in the area most of her life. Barbara worked as a lab technician for the Burn Center in Galveston and at the Cancer Research Center in Houston, TX. She also was a registered nurse for the Battle Creek Veteran’s Hospital. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church where she was active in the Bible Study Group and sang in the choir. SURVIVORS include her parents, Raymond and Eileen Nelson of Muskegon; 5 sisters, Valerie Nelson of Shelby, Raelyne (Richard) Castonia of Whitehall, Carol Thompson of Bitely, Sharon (Daniel) Frees of Hesperia, Michelle (Steven) Carlson of Muskegon; 7 nephews, Paul Castonia, Jeremy (Pam) Nelson, Nathan (and fiancée, Jennifer) Castonia, Andrew Castonia, Richard Nelson, Joseph Frees, Brian Frees; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Special neighbors and friends Marge Matthews, Stephanie Jenkins, Henry and Danya Franczeck. She was preceded in death by 1 brother, Raymond Nelson. THE FUNERAL LITURGY will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, July 7, 2005 at St. Thomas Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Phillip A. Sliwinski presiding. INTERMENT will take place at West Hesperia Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be 3-5 and 7-9 PM Wednesday at the Sytsema Funeral Home, 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210.
