Bea (Buitendorp) Acordagoitia's Obituary
Mrs. Bernice E. “Bea” (Buitendorp) Acordagoitia, 74, passed away Saturday morning, August 2, 2014 at her home. She was born November 29, 1939 to John Vincent and Rena Elizabeth (Walber) Acordagoitia in Atlanta, Idaho, and lived in the Muskegon area for over 60 years. She had worked as a spiritual leader and counselor for different social agencies and churches in the area, and was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Bea was active with DeColores, the Emmaus Walk, and the Catholic Cursillo. She volunteered with Oceana County Hospice, the White Lake Festival Choir, A.C.O.A., and Boy Scouts of America. She enjoyed pottery, reading, crocheting, playing the guitar, and attending her cancer support group. SURVIVORS include 4 children, Manuel (Isabelle) Buitendorp of Elkhart, IN, Byron (Debra) Buitendorp of Grand Haven, Dinice (Joey) Buitendorp-Paul of Canton, MI, Joseph (Katherine) Buitendorp of Whitehall; 12 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Bruce (Toshie) Hess of El Paso, TX; 1 sister, Pat Harbold of TN. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Evelyn Marie, her granddaughter, Ava Elizabeth Paul; her parents; 3 brothers, John Vincent, William Taylor, and Bill Walber, Jr., and a special niece, Janet. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 7, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.
