Beatrice S. Kotecki's Obituary
Beatrice Sophia Kotecki, age 101, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022. She was born on May 2, 1921, to Max and Maryanne (Bukowski) Guzikowski in Manistee, Michigan. In her younger years Beatrice loved fishing with her father. Beatrice was a faithful member of St. Michael Catholic Church where she often prepared and served food for funeral luncheons. Her grandchildren affectionately referred to her as “Happy Grandma” or “Grandma Cookie” as she always had a cookie and a smiling face at the ready. Beatrice worked at a sewing factory making parachutes for the troops during WWII. On May 25, 1946, she married Eugene Kotecki, and they spent 47 years together until his passing in February of 1994.
She is survived by her loving children, Marian (Bob) Stefanich, Shirley (Stan) Bray, Don (Teresa) Kotecki, Carol (Tony) Frucci, Paul Kotecki; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene D. Kotecki; daughter, Janet McCallum; brothers, Edmund Guzikowski, Claude Guzikowski; and sister, Agrypine Powalisz.
VISITATION with Beatrice’s family will take place on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at The Lee Chapel of The Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St. Norton Shores, MI 49444, with a rosary service starting at 7:30 PM. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will take place on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at 11:00 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (1716 6th St.) with visitation taking place one hour prior to the service at church.
