Miss Beatrice Vanderlaan's Obituary
Miss Beatrice “Bea” Vanderlaan, age 92, passed away Saturday morning, July 20, 2013. She was born July 21, 1920 in Muskegon to Harry and Mary (Scholtens) Vanderlaan. Bea worked for E.H. Sheldon Company for 30 years before retiring in 1978. She was a life-member of First Christian Reformed Church and belonged to the Ladies Aide. Bea enjoyed traveling out west, liked to bake, cook, and garden, and was always reading a good book. SURVIVORS include many nieces and nephews; and a special nephew, Jay VanderLaan. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Peter and Jacob VanderLaan; 3 sisters, Berdine Guikema, Anne Vanderlaan, and Betty Beekman. SERVICES will be 2:00 PM Friday, July 26, 2013 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210, with Pastor Don Benedict officiating. Burial will take place in Restlawn Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Muskegon Rescue Mission.
