Beatrice A. Oostmeyer's Obituary
Beatrice (VanderMey) Oostmeyer went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 17. She had resided at Brookhaven Medical Care Center where she was tenderly cared for the last three years of her life. She was born in New Era, Michigan on January 16, 1924 to William and Trena VanderMey. She graduated from Muskegon High School in 1942 and was employed as a secretary at Superior Oil Company. She met her future husband, Clarence there when, as a parcel post driver, he delivered packages to her desk. They were married on November, 1947 and were married for 58 years. In their younger years, they enjoyed roller skating together and in their retired years, camping. Bea’s greatest loves were her Lord, her family and her church. She was a member of the Muskegon Rescue Mission Women’s Auxiliary and of Evanston Avenue Baptist Church where she was a deaconess and was involved in children’s ministries for over 35 years. She had a tender, sweet spirit which drew people to her. She leaves behind her husband, Clarence, daughters Kathy (Christopher) Dziepak and Linda (Bill) Hunter, four grandchildren, Matthew and Kaitlyn Dziepak and Jeffrey and Jared Hunter. Also surviving are a brother, Harold (Eleanor) VanderMey, two sisters, Wilma (Robert) Rottman and Kathleen (Howard) VanderLaan as well as brother-in-law, Irv Lundell and sister-in-law, Helene VanderMey. Preceeding her in death were her parents, her and Clarence’s son, James, brother Edward VanderMey and sister, Donna Lundell. Services will be held at Evanston Avenue Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 21 at 2:00 pm with visitation immediately preceding it at 1:00 pm. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Muskegon Rescue Mission, Brookhaven Medical Center Transportation Fund or Evanston Ave. Baptist Church.
