Becky Jean Bennett's Obituary
Mrs. Becky Jean Bennett, age 74, passed away at her home in Muskegon, Michigan on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. She was born in Howell, Michigan on December 12, 1949 to Robert and Genevieve (Bullis) Read. Becky graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. On August 22, 1970, Becky married David Bennett. She was a talented artist and in her earlier years enjoyed painting and sculpting. Becky raised llamas and for nearly 25 years bred and raised large exotic birds. She was known throughout the US as an expert in her field. Her artistic and innovative mind was continuously working, and later in life she created Bennett IMPS, specializing in building custom bird cages. She, along with her husband, traveled throughout the US installing the cages. She also started Solus Innovations which holds a patent on the first knee scooter for amputees. Becky was a member of Laketon Bethel Church and Muskegon Inventors Network. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, David; children, Heather (John) Wilke, Sarah (Curt) Weiden, and Meredith (Kyle) Kriger; daughter-in-law, Megan Bennett; grandchildren, Morgan, Gabe, Noah, Charlie, Maddyson, Lincoln, Asher, Leah, and Robby; brother, Thomas (LaVerne) Read; and sister, Nancy (Gerry) Pike. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert Bennett; grandson, Joseph Gerrans; and sister, Barbara Newman. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Laketon Bethel Church (1568 W. Giles Rd., Muskegon, MI 49445) with Dr. Sherwin Brantsen officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to her service with a luncheon to follow her service. Burial will be in Laketon Township Cemetery. MEMORIALS in memory of Becky may be directed to Laketon Bethel Church or Noah Project. In lieu of flowers, please consider a potted plant.
