Mr. Berchel Clayton Johnson's Obituary
Mr. Berchel Clayton Johnson, age 86, passed away at his home early Sunday morning, May 20, 2018. Clayton was born July 7, 1931, in Camden, TN to Thomas and Barbara (Cox) Johnson. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Clayton married the former Elease Douglas in Corinth, MS on July 5, 1952. He had worked in the assembly department of Shaw Walker/Knoll for 30 years prior to his retirement. Clayton enjoyed traveling, visiting all 50 states and 4 countries. Clayton had a great sense of humor and loved to joke with people. He and Elease were members of Fifth Reformed Church. Clayton is survived by Elease, his wife of 65 years; his daughter, Patsy (Lorance) Wagbo of Muskegon; his son, Thomas C. Johnson of Twin Lake; 9 grandchildren, Brian (Dianne) Wagbo, Bradley Wagbo, Brandon (Diana) Wagbo, Brent Wagbo, Laurie Johnson, Carrie (Eric) Langlois, Joshua (Shana) Johnson, Kristopher (fiancée, Ashley Engleman) Johnson, and Nathan Johnson; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Opal Ruth Ridley; and many, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 great-great grandchildren , Chyla Morales and Sampson Johnson; brothers and sisters, Eljie Johnson, Nellie Johnson, Ora Cole-Madrey, John Thomas Johnson, Gladys Shannon, Lester Paul Johnson, Coleman Johnson, Grandville Johnson, and Lavonna Brinkley. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11 :00 AM Friday May 25, 2018 at Fifth Reformed Church, 2330 Holton Rd, with Pastors Scott VanArendonk and Paul Burmeister officiating. VISITATION will be from 5-8 PM Thursday at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave. 213-726-5210. Interment will be in East Dalton Oakhill Cemetery.
