Berdean Kissling's Obituary
Berdean Kissling passed away peacefully on January 21, 2013. She was 95 years old. Berdean was born on June 10, 1917 to Jacob and Elizabeth (Vanderwier) Scholtens. On August 20, 1942 Berdean began a lifelong marriage to Floyd. Berdean attended what is now known as the Beacon Light Community Church, and was active in their Ladies Missionary Society. She enjoyed knitting, crafts, and teaching Sunday school. Berdean was a quiet, devoted, loving individual who will be deeply missed. SURVIVORS include her 2 children Joy (Steve) Hartman of Hudsonville, and Barb (Dave) Mason of Allegan; 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; and sister Grace Nelson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd, in 2002; her parents; sister, Marion Scholtens; brothers, Robert Scholtens and George “Bud” Scholtens; 2 sisters-in-law, Nellie and Lois Scholtens; and brother-in-law, Gordon Nelson. SERVICES will be held at 3:00pm on Thursday January 24, 2013 at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Pastor John Shyne officiating. A time of visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the start of the service. Interment will be at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to the Beacon Light Community Church.
