Bernard "Bud" Lackey's Obituary
Bernard “Bud” Lackey left this world on Sunday, July 17, 2022, to spend eternity with his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ surrounded by his faithful family. Bud was born in Muskegon, March 3, 1935, to Bernard “Pete” & Martha (Zielinski) Lackey who preceded him to Heaven along with sisters; Mary Brietals, Ruby Major, and Betty Moyer. He is survived by the love of his life and best friend, Holly R. (DeJonge) Lackey of 67 years along with their son, Robert (Lori) Lackey; two daughters, Kathy (Bob) Winicki, and Kim (Gerry) Harless; along with sisters, Shirley Dinger, and June Laban; eight grandchildren, Amanda, Breanna, Shailey, Ryan, Shannon, Evan, Kristi and Carly; two great grandchildren; and many special nieces, nephews, and amazing friends and neighbors.
After a 35-year career with Meijer, Bud retired as director of distribution. Bud served his Lord in many ways throughout his walk on this earth. As a volunteer at two Bible camps, youth leader, Sunday school teacher, worship leader at Pioneer Park & Northern Exposure Campground (Mesick, MI), and at Laketon Bethel Church, where he served as Deacon and Elder, and later served on the board at Fruitport Bethel Baptist. He has touched many people in his life, not only with his unwavering faith, but his humor and endless whit. He served his country through the Michigan National Guard where he attained the rank of 2nd lieutenant and attended several military schools.
The CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held on Saturday July 30, 2022, at Bethel Baptist Church of Norton Shores (1066 E. Byron Road Norton Shores, MI) presided by Pastor Doug VanderMolen. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to Service at 11:00 a.m. The family would like to thank Harbor Hospice for the outstanding care and compassion that he received. In lieu of flowers the family has requested a gift to be made to Bethel Baptist Church of Norton Shores “Playground Fund” in memory of Bud, a project that is near and dear to his heart.
