Bernard Burton Carlisle's Obituary
Bernard B. Carlisle “Bernie”, age 87, passed away on February 17, 2025, in Muskegon, Michigan. He was born on September 13, 1937, to Jesse and Gertrude (Schuitema) Carlisle in Muskegon, Michigan. Bernie joined the United States Air Force in 1954 in communications and served his country proudly for 8 years. During this time is where he also met and married the love of his life, Suzanne H. Warren, on October 7, 1956, in St. Johns, Newfoundland. After returning to the states, he owned and operated the Montague Zephyr and later joined Superior Oil Company where he retired while supervising 12 different stations. In 1992 Bernie and Suzanne fulfilled a lifelong dream of working together in Christian Ministry by moving to Goodyear, Arizona and worked for Life Lessons together spreading Gods word. He is survived by his wife: Susan H. Carlisle; loving father of 5 children: Debbie (Dixon) Smith, Cathy (Paul) Gartland, Bernie Carlisle Jr., Russ Carlisle, and Tami (Tom) Junge, 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse, and Gertrude Carlisle; siblings: Ray (Erma) Carlisle, Elizabeth (Paul) Smith, Herm (June) Carlisle, James (Ruth) Carlisle, Louis (Jean) Carlisle, Jesse (Mary) Carlisle, Bob (Virginia) Carlisle, Russ (Judy) Carlisle, Marvin (Betty) Carlisle and Garritt Carlisle. MEMORIAL SERVICE will be Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Noon at Friendship Wesleyan Church, 1761 N. Roberts Rd. Muskegon, MI 49445 with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Friendship Wesleyan Church. Arrangements through The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 E.
