Mr. Bernard R. Curtis' Obituary
Bernard Raymond Curtis, 87, of Twin Lake, MI, passed away November 24, 2020, after a lingering illness. He was born August 9, 1933 in Concord, MI to Walter Clayton Curtis and Mary Lodelia Lockwood. Bernie spent 30 years in the military: 2 years Regular Army and 28 years in the Army Reserves. He was the top NCO at Muskegon Reserve Unit and retired as a Master Sgt. He was employed for 40 years at Teledyne Continental Motors Engineering Department. He enjoyed playing baseball, bowling, golf, wood working, cooking and listening to audio books. He was a 65 year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. In 1956 he married Doris Gatfield and she preceded him in death. Born to that union was Raymond Clayton (Karen) Curtis, Pamella Jane (Logan) Davis, Troy Curtis, Todd (Noreen) Curtis; grandchildren Emma Elizabeth Curtis, Richard Andrew Lawrence, Jr., Daniel Robert Davis and Dylan Ray Davis. On February 14, 1991 he married Emma Jane Page Newman; and her children Judy (Robert) Hancock and David (Lovida) Newman; grandchildren Paige Elizabeth Hancock, Jacob Walter Hancock, Sierra McKenzie Newman, McKenna Jane Newman and Ashtun (Heather) Bennett; great-granddaughter Zennleigh Bennett; special person Susan and sister Winnifred Kittridge. He was also preceded in death by his parents, brother Wilbur Clayton Curtis and sister Mary Arvillla Kelsey. A graveside service with military honors will be held Thursday, December 3, 2020, at 11:00 AM at Holton Oakwood Cemetery. Many thanks to the Heartland Hospice team for the care and concerns.
