Mr. Bernard "Bernie" Evans' Obituary
Mr. Bernard D. Evans, Sr. age 85, passed away Saturday morning, June 22, 2019 at his home. Bernie was born October 30, 1933 in Muskegon to Lyle and Maude (Young) Evans. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On June 30, 1956, Bernie married the former Wilma Vanderlaan and she survives him. Bernie was the owner/operator of B. Evans Garbage Service for 14 years and then worked at Campbell Grinder Co. for the next 20 years until his retirement. He was a proud member of the Ravenna American Legion Post # 297 where he had held many positions. Bernie the most giving, caring, and loving person you could know; going out of his way to help anyone who was in need; he was the best, truly one of a kind. He will be deeply missed by Willi, his wife of 63 years; his children, Bernie Jr., Jim and Nancy, Jeanne, and Jeff and Milva; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bernie was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 2 sisters. A Celebration of Bernie’s Life will be held from 10 AM until Noon on August 10, 2019, at The American Legion Sherman Moore Post # 297, 3590 Conklin St., in Ravenna.
