Bernard Anthony Heger's Obituary
Despite the valiant lifesaving efforts of his golfing buddies, Bernie Heger passed away on Friday morning, after a 38-year battle with heart disease. He was 74 years of age. Mr. Heger was born in Alba, Missouri on August 12th, 1930 to Ed & Mary (Hanrahan) Heger. Raised on a farm in southwestern Missouri, he proudly served his country during the Korean War as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army with the 7th Inf., 422nd Heavy Mortar Co. On June 15, 1957, he married Jeanette Marie Pierce in Joplin, Missouri. Mr. Heger moved to West Michigan in 1970 where he worked as a Quality Control Engineer before retiring from Johnson Technology in 1992. In his retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife, playing golf with his sons and friends, fishing, and spending time with his granddaughter. He was known for his sense of humor, and always had a joke to share with his friends. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. SURVIVORS include his wife Jeanette; 2 sons, Mark Anthony of Norton Shores & Stephen Douglas of Roosevelt Park; 1 granddaughter, Kaleigh Ann Heger who was the apple of her grandfather’s eye; former daughter-in law ,Denise, his brothers-in-law, Dwight (Mary) Pierce, Don Palermo, Ray Collier; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and golfing buddies. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws; Clarence and Marie Pierce, and all of his siblings, Margaret Schutz, Maurice “Dutch” Heger, Regina Collier, and JoAnn Palermo. A MEMORIAL MASS will be held 11AM Saturday, May 21, 2005, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 E. Summit, with Father James Wyse as Celebrant. VISITATION with the family will be held Friday evening, May 20th, from 6-8 PM at the
