Bernard L. "Bernie" Huston's Obituary
Mr. Bernard Leo Huston, age 89, passed away Friday morning, October 16, 2009, in Muskegon. He was a life resident of Muskegon, born May 30, 1920, to Walter & Hattie (Williams) Huston. Bernie was a WWII U.S. Army veteran and lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #446 and of the Muskegon County Council of V.F.W. Honor Guard. He had been employed 38 years at American Store Equipment prior to his retirement in 1984. Bernie was an avid sports fan, attending many of his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s games, and bowled for many years. On April 6, 1946 he married the former Clara Belle Wayman and she survives him along with 3 children, Shirley Parsons of Hart, Kenneth (Patty) Huston of Muskegon and George (Marilyn) Inman of Rothbury, MI; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; 1 brother, Ronald (Hazel) Huston of Walkerville; 4 sisters, June (Emil) Segelstrom of Muskegon, Dorothy (Bernard) Staples of North Muskegon, Joyce (Joe “Shorty”) Gomez of Missouri and Lois Smith of Muskegon. Bernie was preceded in death by his son, Charles Inman, grandson, Douglas Parsons, great-grandson, David Hillenburg, and sisters, Helen Burgess and Doris Tazelaar. FUNERAL SERVICES will be 1PM Tuesday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Avenue 231-726-5210 with Pastor John H. Brown officiating. VISITATION with Bernie’s family will 6-8 PM Monday. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens with the military honors provided by the County Council Honor Guard. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS to V.F.W. Post 446 will be appreciated.
