Mrs. Bertha Helen Jensen's Obituary
Mrs. Bertha Helen Jensen, age 91, passed away Monday, December 22, 2014. Mrs. Jensen was born July 23, 1923 to Christian and Catherine (Nelen) VanAgtmael in Oceana County. On May 18, 1946 she married Clarence Jensen and he preceded her in death on October 9, 2007. Bertha was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church where she was part of the Altar Guild and worked on funeral luncheons. She also took care of the altar garments for the church. Throughout the years they enjoyed taking the annual two week summer family vacation which always proved to be a great time. Bertha and Clarence enjoyed Lawrence Welk and listening to polkas. She taught sewing for the 4H program, and quilting, knitting, and sewing were her biggest joys. Bertha is survived by her children, Ronald (Ann) Jensen of North Muskegon, James (Ruth) Jensen of Ravenna, Daniel (Geri) Jensen of Muskegon, Marilyn (Daniel) Lipka of Medina, OH, Rev. Fr. Larry Jensen of Waterville, ME, Frank (Laurie) Jensen of Northville, Kevin (Annie) Jensen of Muskegon, Wayne (Julie) Jensen of Norton Shores, and Denise (Stephen) Bizon of Traverse City; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Nuyens of Grand Haven; and many, many nieces and nephews. Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George, Louie, and Frank; and sisters, Rosa, Joanna, Elsie, and Barbara. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 26, 2014 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 3252 Apple Ave. with Rev. Fr. Larry Jensen presiding and Rev. Fr. Antony Britto as concelebrant. Visitation will be 9 to 11 AM Friday at the church. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Maronite Catholic Church, 3 Appleton St., Waterville, ME 04901.
