Bertha Syperda's Obituary
Mrs. Bertha Syperda, age 87, passed away Thursday morning, December 9, 2004. She was born September 17, 1917 in Muskegon to James and Jennie (Wynbergen) VanKampen, and had been a life resident. Mrs. Syperda owned and operated her own beauty shop for 20 years. She volunteered for many organizations, including the Christian Home as a hairdresser for 18 years, and the Red Cross as a clerk. Mrs. Syperda was a charter member of Pine Grove Reformed Church, now Unity Reformed Church, where she belonged to the choir, several Circles and Bible Studies, was a Women’s Guild officer, Women’s Classis officer, and also had been a Christian Home Auxiliary officer. On September 19, 1941, she married Arthur Syperda in Muskegon, and he preceded her in death on January 28, 1999. SURVIVORS include 3 daughters, Annajean (William) Boukamp of Norton Shores, Marcia (Rev. Walter) Jones of Clymer, NY, Barbara (Bruce) Duiser of Norton Shores; 8 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. SERVICES will be 12 Noon Saturday at Unity Reformed Church with Pastor Kyle DeYoung and Rev. Walter Jones officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. VISITATION will be from 2-4 & 7-9 PM today at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210. MEMORIALS to the Unity Reformed Church Memorial Fund will be appreciated.
