Bertha Mae Williams' Obituary
Mrs. Bertha M. Williams, age 86, passed away Monday, April 4, 2011 at the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence. She was born January 31, 1925 in Ludington, MI to George and Bertha (Fuller) Smith. She had been a resident of Muskegon since the age of 18. On July 29, 1944 Bertha married Floyd H. Williams in Ludington, MI and he preceded her in death on July 17, 1998. Bertha had worked at S.D. Warren and Great Lakes plating for 20 years prior to her retirement in 1987. She was a member of Crestwood United Methodist Church and also the Eagle’s Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling , reading, crossword puzzles, crocheting, and playing cards. SURVIVORS include her daughter, Suzan (Larry) Houghtaling of Muskegon, son David (Ann) Williams of FL, son Donald (Debra) Williams of N. Muskegon, and daughter Sandra (Donald) Gatfield, of Holland ; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great- granddaughter; a brother, Roy Smith of Wisconsin; 3 sisters, Ruth Foster, Joyce (Albert) Padron, of Ludington, and Carol (Gary) Laude of Muskegon. In addition to her husband, Floyd, she was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, and 3 sisters. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 6, at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. 1-231-726-5210 with Rev. Steve Weinberger officiating. VISITATION will be today from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and 1 hour prior to the service. INTERMENT will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence.
