Bertie L. Miller's Obituary
Bertie Lou Miller, age 89, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness, Friday, February 7, 2020. She was born November 20, 1930 in Alpena County, MI to Arnold and Alice (Mielke) Christensen. On September 2, 1950, she married Harold L. Miller, Jr. in Alpena and he preceded her in death on July 9, 1975. Bertie was a longtime member of the former St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and had belonged to its Altar Guild for many years. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time up north at her cabin, but most of all, she loved being a mom and grandmother and was very proud of her family. SURVIVORS include 5 children: Harold L. “Howie” (Rhonda) Miller III, Lynn Miller, Robert “Bob” (Bettina “Betty”) Miller, Mike (Jodi) Miller, Chris (Melissa) Miller; 6 grandchildren: Angela (Peter) Niarhos, Craig Miller, Mikayla Miller, Joshua Miller, Megan Miller, and Ian Miller; 2 great-grandchildren: Jaxon and Madysen Niarhos; sister, Joyce Wirgau; sister-in-law, Judy Christensen; many nieces, nephews, and several close friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Guy Christensen. SERVICES for Bertie will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, February 13, 2020 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231) 798-1100 with Pastor Jane Mountain officiating. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, February 12, 2020.
