Bertram Eugene "Pete" Hoover's Obituary
Mr. Bertram “Pete” Hoover, age 80, passed away Monday, April 9, 2007 in Muskegon. He was born on July 6, 1926 in Muskegon to Arthur and Ida (Tellison) Hoover and had been a life long resident. Mr. Hoover was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church where he served as an usher and assisted with Communion. Pete had been employed as a stevedore at West Michigan Dock for 42 years retiring in 1988. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Pete married the former Eleanor Bosse on September 23, 1950. She survives him along with 2 children, Deborah (Jerry) Groeneveld of Spring Lake and Jacalyn (David ) Staretz of Seattle, Washington; 4 grandchildren, Bradley Groeneveld, Victoria Hidde, Mitchell Groeneveld, and Colleen Groeneveld; 1 great granddaughter, Rion Hidde; 1 brother, Wayne (Susan) Hoover of Connecticut; 5 sisters, Donna (Charles) Dagen of Muskegon, Doris (Lester) Stroup of Colorado Springs, CO, Lorraine VanDyke of Shelby, Carol (Bernard) Harrell and Marilyn (Garry) Bradfield both of Muskegon; 1 sister-in-law, Kay (James) Sikkenga of Muskegon; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers; and 2 sisters. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 1PM Thursday, April 12, 2007, at St. Mark Lutheran Church (4475 Henry St.) with Rev Mark Zimmerman officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service (12-1PM). MEMORIALS in Pete’s name may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
