Mrs. Beryl Irene Connelly's Obituary
Beryl Irene (Gundy) Connelly, age 93, died on Wednesday, February 13, 2013. Born on the Gundy family farm in West Plains, MO on March 19, 1919 to Emil Frederic and Mollie Bernice (Roach) Gundy, she was the eldest of eight children. She moved north to the Muskegon area in her late teens where she met and later married, on December 6, 1941, her husband of 57 years Harry H. Connelly. He preceded her in death on June 1, 1999. Beryl was a homemaker and a wonderful cook. She also loved to read and crochet and has left us many afghans to keep us warm. She leaves behind to cherish her memory 2 sisters, June Berdinski of Muskegon, MI and Louise (James) Ingalsbe of West Plains, MO; her daughter-in-law, Sheila Connelly and the 'daughter of her heart' Wendy Prow; grandchildren, Sgt. Fred Connelly II of Alpena, MI., Lt. Col. Ryan Connelly of Lansing, MI., Shane Connelly of Muskegon, MI, Merrilyn Hicks of Charlotte, MI, Christina (Stan) Stroven of Fremont, MI, Jennifer (Brian) Ragland of Lansing, MI and Brian (Jamie) Connelly of Muskegon, MI., Paul (Erica) Gillard of Twin Lake, MI.; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her three sons Fred Ernest in 2012, Richard Neil in 1995 and Terry Herbert in 2003. We will cherish her memory and carry on her legacy of love and family. There will be a CELEBRATION OF HER LIFE at 3 PM Saturday, February 16, 2013 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave, Muskegon, MI 49442, (231) 726-5210. The Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the Sytsema Chapel. Interment will be at Mona View Cemetery.
