Bettie Lue Bush's Obituary
Bettie Lue Bush, age 87, was called home to her Lord on Saturday, November 28, 2020. She was born July 12, 1933 in Kensett, Arkansas to Marion J. and Dessie (Vaughn) Mosley. Bettie met her husband of 68 years at a Billy Graham Crusade at Maranatha in July of 1951. She was united in marriage to Harrison “Ben” Bush on August 21, 1952 in Dennison, MI. She was preceded in death by parents, Marion and Dessie (Vaughn) Mosley; in-laws, Benjamin and Fannie (Veeneman) Bush; daughters Brenda Olson and Beverly Bush and son-in-law Steven Shimp; sisters Mae Louise (John) Maki, Lois Lorene (Richard) Niswander, Ellen (Henry) Riechmann, Lendel Dutton, and Mary Mosley; brothers James Woodrow (Clara) Mosley, Thomas Mosley, Howard Mosley, M J (Oneda) Mosley, Floyd “Doc” (Etola) Mosley, Audrey (Francis) Mosley, Kenneth “PJ” (Mary) Mosley, and Billy (Judy) Mosley; Sisters-in Law Helen (Lyle) Morris, Edith (John) Breen, Martha Bush and Sharon Bush, and brother-in-law Harold Bush. Bettie is survived by her husband, Harrison “Ben” Bush; children, Charles (Linda) Bush, Barbara Shimp, David (Becky) Bush; her grandchildren, Jennifer Espinosa, Jill (Steve) Miller, Julie (Steve) Tobias, Jesse Olson, Robert Bush, Stephanie (Ryan) Meyer, Greg Bush, Richard (Kari) Shimp, Brian Shimp, Lise (Vincent) Gomora, Derek (Kerra) Bush, Jared (Nicole) Bush, Caleb Bush and Cassandra Wilson, Katie (Billy) O’Banion, Nathan Carrier and Alayna Peterson; great-grandchildren, Delaney and Brayson Espinosa, Kayly, Brent, and Ethan Miller, Zach Tobias, Rheagan Lashley, Abigail, Caden, Andrew, Isabella, Madelyn, Bradley, Ethan, and Emilia Meyer, Cadence and AnnaLee Bush, Courtney, Samantha, Dylan, and Emersyn Shimp, Lena, Eli, and Henry Gomora, Grayson and Aurora Bush; and great-great granddaughter, Ellie Lashley; 1 sister, Bonnie Barger; and 1 sister-in-law, Lois Bush; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, day care kids (and parents), and special friends. Bettie spent 42 years providing loving childcare in her home and touched the lives of hundreds of children and families. Bettie devoted a lifetime of church service including children’s ministries, Awana Club and ladies groups. She was an avid Muskegon Hockey Fan and enjoyed flowers and vegetable gardening. Bettie loved to bake and finally shared her recipe to make her famous blueberry and pecan pies. Public Visitation will be held 5-8PM Friday, December 4, 2020 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444. Public Visitation will also be held 10AM-12PM and 1PM-3PM on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Calvary Bible Church, 4617 Grand Haven Rd., Norton Shores, MI. Graveside Services will be held 3:30 PM Saturday at Norton Cemetery. Facial coverings and social distancing will be enforced. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Calvary Bible Church, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the Harbor Hospice Foundation.
